Julia Howells
We are pleased to announce that JNFL and DBD have recently published a report in Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology (Taylor & Francis online) – (Taylor & Francis online) – https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/00223131.2018.1551814. The report was co-authored by Dr Yoshikazu Tamauchi, Hiroshi Kinuhata and Takashi Kodama from JNFL, and John Hurst and Jenna McIntyre, from DBD.

The report outlines the ‘As Low As Reasonably Practicable’ (ALARP) principle, and the process used in the UK, to help tell the ‘story’ of risk reduction process. In addition, the paper provides a summary regarding the complex aspects of ‘ALARP thinking’, to help individuals understand the UK approach and to potentially aid international application of the ALARP principle.
